Leisa Perch is the Founder/Principal Consultant at SAEDI Consulting, a boutique consultancy practice based in Barbados but with a global portfolio. She has has 20+ years of development experience, 13 with the UN system. She specializes in Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Programming in the Environment, Disaster and Climate fields. She is a member of the Gender and Disaster Network and the Society of Gender Professionals.
She provides gender analysis and evidence reviews, gender research and training and capacity building to a variety of clients and also advises projects and initiatives on Socio-environmental risks and Safeguards as part of environmental and social risk assessment. Her work spans the globe and she is currently working on projects in the Caribbean on fisheries, agricultural value chains and climate resilient energy infrastructure, in Africa on ecosystem based adaptation and in Asia on climate-smart agriculture. She has developed bespoke analytical frameworks and assessment tools for clients and for her work, to ensure that the needs of women, girls, men and boys, youth, persons with disabilities and indigenous peoples are considered in a meaningful way in environmental projects and programmes.
Leisa has extensive management experience and is also a strong facilitator of multi-stakeholder groups. She particularly enjoys working with farming and fishing communities. She is a well published and has been a Lead Author in several global publications such as the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, the 1st Global Gender and Environment Outlook and the Sixth Global Environmental Outlook to name a few. She has a BA in International Relations and a Master of Arts in Environmental Management. She is a leading voice on gender in natural resource management in the Caribbean.
